I came across these in a box of old salvaged quilt squares and thought they were just too pretty--and labored over

This is a terrific old turned wood box in near perfect condition

Perhaps I’ve come across one of these before in a museum gift shop and didn’t really register it

really a study in mending

and I don't think detracts

Atmospheric Antique Oil on Canvas Seascape with Gulls dominoes set I came across these inI found this one the coast of New Hampshire just yesterday, and would guess it has not very travelled far probably painted somewhere between there and Maine in the late 19th century. It's about as atmospheric as it gets a vertical slice of rough sea and cloud covered sky, with the blocked sun illuminating pastel shades from lavender to pale blue to greenish gold, and with the trail of fluttering seagulls seeming very an extension of the sea itself.
